Hello all,
I'm just posting to introduce myself to lurkers and non-lurkers alike around these parts. I'm here to help! I don't quite know what that means... but I figure there's stuff that needs to get done both around 'here' and out 'there.' I also figure if you're reading this, you've figured the same thing.
I'm a graduate student at the Univ. of Delaware, about 1-2 years from finishing my ph.D in physics. As you can guess, I spend most of my time absent-mindedly scribbling math on chalk boards doing sciency things... or vegging out. The world of politics baffles, confuses, and angers me! I don't really follow it, so yes, I come unarmed.
I found this webpage because I have a pet peeve: "Voting against the other guy" or "Voting for the lesser of 2 evils." I concede it's a valuable political tactic, but contend, only when used in moderation... and it's not being used in moderation. I think we've had generations of politicians come into office simply because people hated the other guy more. The problem with that line of thinking is that one day, we all wake up and see that we have stacked the government with a bunch of yahoos that nobody actually wants or trusts to govern.
I'm tired of people simply choosing candidates to stand against. So, during the last election, I resolved myself to find something or someone to stand for. I found this webpage - Alot of essays that I really agreed with, which were presented far more clearly and eloquently than I am able to. Thanks, Peter!
At the very least, this was something I could stand behind... also, I figured that the people here could help eachother find things 'out there' which are worth standing up for.

Hello John!
Thank you for registering and thank you for commenting, for adding your voice to the demand for actual political progress that we're making here. After last week's tea parties across the country, I'm more convinced than ever that the liberal capitalist majority will indeed find itself, and sooner rather than later.
Freedom First,
peter.

My sentiments exactly, jcmiii. I could not have said it better.
It is refreshing to find people that actually 'get it.'
I will be following this site closely and forwarding it to others.
